Toradora! – Episode 4: Everyone’s Suddenly a Photo Collector

Uh oh…looks like the plot’s about to get intense with an addition of Sumire in the episode.

I’ve heard how there is (or there will be) something going on between her and Kitamura. Of course, this is to be expected when you have five main characters, which translates to uneven pairing.

I really thought that the series of circumstances between Taiga and Kitamura was masterfully put together. One of the things that I liked about the series is the decisive events that take place, that could’ve lead to a whole different path in the plot. Taiga taking a liking on Kitamura after ‘dumping’ him is the second example of these decisive events. The first one would Taiga confessing to Kitamura way back on Episode 2. In any case, the plot could have been totally different if either Taiga or Kitamura succeeded in their confessions!

Sorry amayalee…no MILFy pictures today…but do wait for next week’s post. The preview shows a lot of promising MILF shots. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • During one of Ryuuji’s routine visits at Taiga’s place, he stumbles upon a cardboard box filled with albums containing Kitamura’s pictures, or to be more specific, Kitamura’s blurry photographs. Seeing the poor quality of all the photographs Taiga took of Kitamura, he offers her to take better ones.
  • We learn of Kitamura’s position of vice-president of what seems to be a student council. We also learn of his popularity among girls, much to Taiga’s discomfort.
  • We get to meet another one of the main characters (yes, the blue haired girl you see in the OP sequence), Kano Sumire [not sure if her name was mentioned in the episode] , who’s actually the president of the student council.
  • During the morning assembly, Taiga finds herself in a quarrel Sumire only to be restrained by Kitamura. Though Taiga is quite happy about the fact that Kitamura restrained her, she is ,at the same time, embarrassed by it seeing how she brought trouble upon Kitamura.
  • At lunch, Kitamura is intrigued by the fact that Taiga brought a lunch box, something of which Taiga doesn’t normally do. Taiga is put in an awkward moment, for if she admits that Ryuuji is the one who made her lunch, rumors about them going out will spread again. Fortunately, Ryuuji was able to cleverly respond by saying that that he only makes lunch for Taiga to earn some extra money, similar to what Minori does with cellphones. Hearing this only made Kitamura and Minori ask Ryuuji to make lunch for them.
  • That night, Ryuuji offers to laminate Taiga’s photographs, but gets an aggressive remark from her and bolts out the door. We find out the next day that she didn’t know which photos she wants laminated since none of her pictures contained Kitamura’s expression when he confessed to her in the past.
  • Oh by the way, did I mention Kitamura liked Taiga? It was only after rejecting him that Taiga gained an interest in Kitamura.

“Liked”… I’m wondering if it’s really “like” for Kitamaru right now. I mean, he did say “friends” but I don’t think he really got the message of “love” from Taiga. Or maybe he just feels no loving feeling(s) toward her anymore.

Though, I do wonder on how Kitamaru looked right after he was rejected. By a midget.

No. The last main character is Kawashima Ami, the one you see in the preview for next episode (and OP and ED). The president is not her. They just look similar in anime.

I love this series as well even though ToraDora! isn’t something I’d usually watch. The fact that Kitamura used to have a crush on Taiga was totally unexpected, but hopefully now those who don’t really like him can understand his actions now because honestly, I never saw anything wrong with him.

And that my friend is the one of the things I like about this series. There are too many ‘what if’ situations which can change the course of the plot.

@Hypernova: Is that so? Thanks for pointing that out. Seriously, can’t the animators pick a different color other than blue? ๐Ÿ™‚

@blissmo: If I put myself in Taiga’s position…having a guy confess to you in a weird way will surely freak me out. Ugh…never’s hard to imagine myself as a girl. ๐Ÿ™‚

> They just look similar in anime.

Not true, they look similiar in the novel designs to begin with, with the school president having a darker shade of blue (almost black) for her hair while Ami has lighter navy blue hair in the colour illustrations . Other than that you can only tell them apart straight away from their different hair fringe/bangs designs. If you look REALLY carefully their eye shapes are different (president has pointier/meaner eyes, Ami has rounded/cuter eyes, semi-reflecting their personalities). In the black and white illustrations you can’t tell them apart if you’re not familiar with the characters (just like here in this case), but once you’ve seen them enough you can tell them apart.

The anime is actually being faithful to the original designs.

Darn it, I’m starting to like all of the characters in this anime. Even the ones who act incredibly dumb. What’s up with this!?

Well, the anime certainly did a good job not letting us think of any of the main characters as dumb one-dimensional characters for long. Minori got her episode last week and Kitamura got his this week.

Then the side characters seem pretty interesting too. I’m really liking this anime, but I’m still not blogging it (way too much crap to do).

Lol I totally got confused between Ami and Sumire in this episode! XD Next episode for sure we would finally get Ami ^_^.

This series is definitely the most surprising one of the season for me, I wasn’t expected much at first, but it really turned out to be very amusing! This wasn’t my favourite epsiode, but I was still very entertained!

@FuyuMaiden: Everything about this anime is very interesting. Glad you like it. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Kanzeon: I’m telling you…the animators could have chosen a different hair color for Sumire.

@lostty: The key word is entertained. Everything else falls second to that. ๐Ÿ™‚
